Happy Happy Birthday Mom! I was thinking of all the reasons why you are fantastic and deserve a great birthday. Here are a few:
You are always willing to lend a hand.
You are full of adventure!
Without you, there is no one to be the butt of the joke 🙂 (That’s what son-in-laws are for)
You showed me how to pick a good guy and mary him!
You are so supportive–even if it means driving to freezing Rexburg to see your daughter’s exhibit.
You find friends in unexpected places.
You are bursting with ENERGY!
You taught us to always choose the right.
… and that it’s okay to get your hands a little dirty.
I love that your smile is so big, there isn’t room for your eyes too.
…apparently it’s a genetic trait…
Life’s a picnic when you’re around.
Happy Birthday Mom–thanks for being the best.
Excuse me while I pathetically explain my “first world problem” and why it’s a “problem”: there is a disconnect between all of my social media outlets. My Facebook has trouble posting photos; my Instagram won’t sync with my Facebook; and all of you wonderful people who read my blog but don’t follow me on Instagram or know what the heck Instagram is are missing out on half of the spur-of-the-moment photos I take through the week. That being said… I have nothing of interest going on in the foreseeable future, so I’m going to make it my project to upload my China Instagram photos here, starting from oldest to newest.
Disclaimer: all of you hardcore Instagramers out there who use cool filters and hashtags are going to judge me on my lack of photographic originality… I do the best with what I’ve got. My phone didn’t have texting capability until I was a Sophomore in college, I have never had a phone with internet (I snatch Chris’ when I get the chance), and I have never spent money on a ring tone or “phone accessory,” so I’m not one to drop like 3 bucks on 3 cool apps. I was raised with better phone sense than that. 🙂
Now, if you are fortunate and do have a cool internet-capable phone and are interested in jointing the world of Instagram or are on Instagram and want to join my world, I can be found at: tori_gilbert
I bought cherries from this lady and afterwards realized I probably got horribly ripped off (mentally converting RMB to USD isn’t my strong point). Oh well, she was spunky and struck a good pose.
Chris looking handsome in his new shirt. I love the big Nanjing trees that cover the streets.
Fish at the grocery store.
The start of fall leaves.
You think it would be amusing to spin the ball in my mouth? Well, I think it would be amusing to bite your hand off.
Mo, back when he was a little tyke and didn’t have a head. He was a fluff ball with ears. So. Freaking. Cute.
An old beat up Pusa. My favorite Chinese purchase (besides Mo of course).
Exploring Buddhist temples.
Remember that one time I thought I had meningitis? Well I didn’t, and I got these cool x-rays for like $5.
